Following the presentation of the Feasibility Study for the North Central Canada Centre of Arts and Environment in 2017 the Executive Council decided to host an annual Inspiration Series to continue exploration and discussion on this project. In March, NCCCAE hosted the third inspiration series, Inspiration Series 3.0 – Developing a Northern Vision

Inspiration Series 3.0 focused on implementing the strategic plan for the City of Flin Flon, Flin Flon: Our Community, specifically focusing on three strategic areas from the plan: infrastructure renewal, economic development, and recreation & leisure. The city’s strategic plan was adopted in May 2019.

Inspiration Series 3.0 focused on community consultations led by Hazel Borys, Managing Principal of PlaceMakers, an international company that uses diverse strategies to support economic development.

According to its website, Placemakers aims to “address the full scope of placemaking — planning and urban design, context-specific coding, community engagement, implementation, and the marketing of great places — and put our focus on the kind of viability that turns vision into reality. ” Through extensive consultation with Flin Flon leaders and community groups, Hazel identified a list of key strategies to support Flin Flon and area in developing a vision for a strong future.
